Tyler joined AVALT in 2017. Prior to joining AVALT, Tyler worked as a private equity investor at Bain Capital, where he analyzed new investment opportunities and supported portfolio companies in the consumer, retail, and healthcare industries. His transaction experience includes Bain’s investments in Bob’s Discount Furniture, TOMS, and Virgin Cruises. Prior to joining Bain Capital, Tyler was a member of J.P. Morgan’s Consumer & Retail Investment Banking group in New York.
Tyler received an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar. He also received a BS in Commerce, with a concentration in Finance, from the University of Virginia, where he was captain of the varsity baseball team.
Matt joined AVALT in 2015. Prior to joining AVALT, Matt spent three years at Goldman Sachs in the firm’s Special Situations Group, where he analyzed debt and equity investments across a variety of industries including software, business and financial services, and healthcare.
Matt received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Southern Methodist University, where he graduated magna cum laude.
Marko started AVALT in 2015 with Mark and Ian. Prior to starting AVALT, Marko was a Principal at Bain Capital for eight years and was a senior member of the firm’s TMT group. Prior to joining Bain Capital, Marko was a Manager at Bain & Company for six years and was a member of Bain & Company’s Private Equity Practice. In 2014, Marko was the SVP of Corporate Development at C&S Wholesale Grocers, where he drove the M&A effort to acquire and integrate multiple acquisitions.
Marko received an MBA from the Wharton Business School, where he was a Palmer Scholar and the Ford Scholar for having the highest overall academic standing. Marko also received a BS in Chemical Engineering from Queen’s University, where he graduated as the University Gold Medalist for the highest overall academic standing.
Marko lives in the western suburbs of Boston with his wife, Christine, and their two children.
Steve joined AVALT in 2017. Prior to joining AVALT, Steve was a Senior Associate Consultant at Bain & Company, where he was a member of Bain & Company’s Private Equity Practice and consulted in the consumer products, healthcare, and technology industries.
Steve received a BS in Finance and Accounting from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, where he graduated cum laude.
Alec joined AVALT in 2017. Prior to joining AVALT, Alec worked as a Consultant at the Boston Consulting Group, where he specialized in retail merchandising and cost-out, with major cases in drug, grocery, and B2B distribution.
Alec received a BA in Economics and Mandarin from the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated summa cum laude.
George is a senior advisor to the AVALT team working to identify investment opportunities and assisting in various business and marketing initiatives. George has nearly 40 years of experience working in the New England market with growth oriented and family businesses across all commercial sectors. George started his career at Arthur Andersen in Boston and spent the last 15 years of his professional career as a partner at EY, where he was responsible for the assurance practice and ultimately was the office managing partner for the Boston office and markets leader for New England. He has extensive M&A and IPO experience and working with entrepreneurial companies.
George and his wife, Sharyn, live in Boston along with spending time in Jupiter, Florida and Saratoga Springs, NY.
Scott joined AVALT in 2015. Prior to joining AVALT, Scott was an Associate Consultant at Bain & Company, where he was a member of Bain & Company’s Private Equity Practice and consulted in the healthcare and consumer products industries.
Scott received a BA in Economics from Harvard, cum laude, and was a two-year captain of the varsity soccer team.
Akeel joined AVALT in 2017. Prior to joining AVALT, Akeel worked in private equity at Berkshire Partners, where he evaluated investment opportunities and supported portfolio companies across a variety of industries, including business services, consumer, telecom, and industrials. Akeel started his career at Blackstone in the Restructuring & Reorganization Group, advising companies and creditors on financial and operational reorganizations.
Akeel received an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics from Harvard College, where he graduated with honors.
Ian started AVALT in 2015 with Mark and Marko. Prior to AVALT, Ian spent 18 years at Bain Capital, where he was a Managing Director in the firm’s global private equity funds. Ian helped found Bain’s Asia private equity fund and from 2007-2010 was a Managing Director in its Hong Kong office, where he helped build Bain’s China practice.
During his tenure at Bain Capital, Ian led numerous deals across several industry sectors and geographies, including HDS, NXP, BRP, Loews Cineplex, Gome, Sunac, and Asimco. Prior to joining Bain Capital, Ian worked at Bain & Company, where he consulted in the technology and consumer products industries.
Ian received an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar. Ian also received a BA in East Asian Studies from Yale, cum laude.
Ian lives in Boston with his wife, Marlene, and their two children.
Mark started AVALT in 2015 with Ian and Marko. Prior to starting AVALT, Mark spent 10 years at Bain Capital, where he was a Managing Director and Global Co-Lead of the firm’s portfolio group, a team of executives that partnered closely with leadership teams to define growth strategies, improve operational performance, and accelerate cultural change. During his tenure at Bain Capital, Mark worked closely with a number of consumer, technology, industrial, and business services companies, including Bloomin Brands (Outback Steakhouse), Burlington Coat Factory, Nutro Pet Foods, Trinseo, and Genpact. In 2014, Mark served as President of C&S Wholesale Grocers, the largest grocery wholesaler in the United States.
Earlier in his career, Mark was with Mainspring, Inc., an e-business strategy consulting firm that was acquired by IBM in 2001. While at IBM, Mark played various roles, including Global leader of the Financial Services Business Transformation business, and was on the leadership team that evaluated and integrated PwC Consulting into IBM. Mark began his career at PwC.
Mark received an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar. Mark also received a BS in Business from the University of Vermont, summa cum laude.
Mark lives in Wayland, Massachusetts, with his wife, Gina, and their four children.
Amanda joined AVALT in 2017. In addition to providing administrative support to the senior members of the firm, Amanda is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the office.
Prior to joining AVALT, Amanda worked in sales and marketing within various industries including consumer packaged goods, fashion, and IT.
Amanda received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Connecticut. Prior to that, Amanda attended the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where she was a freshman starter on the Women’s Basketball Team and received All-Rookie Honors.
Karla joined AVALT in 2015 and provides administrative support to the senior members of the firm. In addition to maintaining managers’ daily schedules, travel, and correspondence, Karla is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the office.
To AVALT, Karla brings 13 years of experience in administrative support in the finance industry. Prior to joining AVALT, Karla supported the Global Fixed Income team at Loomis Sayles & Company.
Karla attended Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she studied Dance Performance & Arts Administration. In addition to training and dancing with The Boston Ballet, Karla was also a member of the Butler Ballet Company in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Meredith joined AVALT 2016. In addition to supporting the senior members of the firm from an administrative capacity, Meredith is responsible for the firm’s accounting and invoicing. Meredith maintains managers’ appointment schedules by planning and scheduling meetings, teleconferences, and travel.
Prior to joining AVALT, Meredith worked at Hancock Natural Resource Group for eight years. While at Hancock, Meredith was responsible for processing all Accounts Payable, along with providing support to the Corporate Finance team, CEO, and CFO.
Meredith received a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication from Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts. In addition to her role at AVALT, she is currently studying to become a certified Health Coach at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
